Patrick's Story
Life
It took me six years to attain my college degree. I started off at Golden Valley Lutheran College, then Normandale Community College, then the U of M, back to Golden Valley, then finally Concordia College in Moorhead, MN. I coached menÂs tennis for one season at Golden Valley and one season in Fargo, ND while finishing my degree in Physical Ed and Health. I coached high school hockey for four years. One year in Fargo, ND at Shanley High School, and three years at Minnehaha Academy. Throughout my coaching days I sold insurance off and on for a number of years, I owned a one-horse employment agency and even worked in a bank as the Vice President. My last job before entering the ministry was selling printing for Dick PetersonÂs dad. In 1985, I went to Luther Seminary for four years. My first parish was Gethsemane Lutheran Church, Upsala, MN. I served St. JohnÂs Lutheran Church, Rosemount, MN for 10 years. I am presently enrolled in the Doctor of Ministry Progra...Expand for more
m through the MN Consortium of Theological Schools: Luther, St. Thomas, United, Bethel and St. JohnÂs University. My thesis will be on "Branding and Brand Strategy for the Church and other non-profit organizations." I am a Police Chaplain, and have been an Adjunct Professor at the American Lutheran Theological Seminary, St. Paul, MN. I have served on the Leadership Team for Hockey Ministries International, and have twice been on the radio program, Decision Today with Billy Graham. I started my own radio ministry called Breakaway Ministries. For ten years I have opened the Minnesota Senate and the House of Representatives as the Chaplin of the Day. I enjoy my family, swimming, running, hockey, golfing, tennis, weight lifting, karate, reading, computers, and still play a little guitar. My wife Debbie and I celebrated our 25th Wedding Anniversary on May 21st, 2002. We have three daughters: Bethany, Renee and Molly. I had a great time at our 30th Reunion. God bless you.
