Patrick's Story
There were some wonderful people that I was fortunate enough to meet and attend school with...to some of them I was a trouble to/with them. In the end I am the one that lost most in losing them as friends. May God forgive me.
I have been alcohol and other stuff free for 2 decades now. (As they say in the rooms of NA and AA, "Insanity is doing the same bad/negative habits over and over again and expecting a different result.") Haven't touched a cigarette since maybe freshman year of high school. I eat very healthy as you can probably guess by the wheatgrass growing in the pic. Alot of biking and running.
Lived in Atlanta, GA, briefly, shortly after Howard University.
Became a Tilesetter with Local 67 in Chicago in 1993 approximately.
Moved to Denver, Colorado in 1998 or 1999 lived there for about 10 or 11 years. Worked for 2 non-profit disability centers in Denver. Worked in administration for one and worked as a bookkeeper for the other for some years. We would basically provide temporary financial assistance, housing referrals, and advocacy for people with disabilities and/or poor with disabilities. Quit my job post because I wanted to leave Denver, (that place is a real type of darkness) and I am very happy being back near Chicago. My greatest hobby has been combing the Divine Word of God in the 2 Sacred books of the Quran and Bible. May Allah have Mercy upon me. I continue to work the steps, even after 2 decades clean and sober. I do not intend to use this site because it seems to be causing my computer to redirect and create pop-ups alot....Expand for more

THE TWELVE STEPS OF ALCOHOLICS ANONYMOUS (and Narcotics Anonymous)
1. We admitted we were powerless over alcohol (and drugs)ÃÂâÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂthat our lives had become
unmanageable.
2. Came to believe that a Power greater than ourselves could restore us to
sanity.
3. Made a decision to turn our will and our lives over to the care of God as we
understood Him.
4. Made a searching and fearless moral inventory of ourselves.
5. Admitted to God, to ourselves, and to another human being the exact nature
of our wrongs.
6. Were entirely ready to have God remove all these defects of character.
7. Humbly asked Him to remove our shortcomings.
8. Made a list of all persons we had harmed, and became willing to make
amends to them all.
9. Made direct amends to such people wherever possible, except when to do
so would injure them or others.
10. Continued to take personal inventory and when we were wrong promptly
admitted it.
11. Sought through prayer and meditation to improve our conscious contact with
God, as we understood Him, praying only for knowledge of His will for us
and the power to carry that out.
12. Having had a spiritual awakening as the result of these Steps, we tried to
carry this message to alcoholics ( and drug addicts), and to practice these principles in all our affairs.
