Patrick's Story
Life
Dr. Patrick A. O'Dougherty is the McNamara Alumni Center and Carlson Heritage Wall Scholar at the University of Minnestoa.
Dr. Patrick A. O'Dougherty, author, publisher, professor, is an Irish writer in the Minnesota tradition of Ignatius Donnellyl and F. Scott Fitzgerald. O'Dougherty has been a life long student, therapist client, activist, adjunct professor and member of many leadership boards and professional groups. Presently he is developing a history memory library and a writer's retreat. His favorite genre is online publishing. O'Dougherty is the author of ten books and numerous articles. He ran for mayor of Minneapolis in 1974. He is the founder of the Green Party at the University of Minnesota and a head of Minnesotans for a United Ireland. In 1998 O'Dougherty was a Pastors for Peace US-Cuba Friendshipment Caravan Fellowship winner. He is an independent scholar and research professor at the University of Minnesota where he taught creative writing in General College. O'Dougherty is also a Benedictine Oblate with the Harvard Benedictines. He has recently published articles in the Minnesota Daily, the Sunflower, and La Prensa. He lives in St. Paul, MN.
