Patrick's Story

Life It's funny how life plays itself out. My college bio gives a very general explanation of both joy and heartache during my time there. And I know now without a doubt that the heartache I experienced in college was to get me to be open to salvation through Jesus Christ. When I got out, I felt like I had nothing to hold onto. A chance invitation to play at a church re-ignited my journey on the path as a believer in the Lord Jesus. I am married to a girl I met through my first teaching position. Her mother and father both taught and the same school I did, and it was my future mother-in-law that introduced us. I know the cliche about mothers-in-law, yet I managed to be blessed to have in laws that not only tolerate me but love me as well. We married in 2003 at the church we both attend. We live in the LaSalle-Peru area right in the middle of the state of Illinois. I teach junior high band while she designs websites for small retailers. We have to beautiful dogs, a black cocker spaniel named Emily, and a big mutt named Hero. We also have a black and white cat named Bailey. No human children as of yet, but that may change. in the Chorus at some point you might remember me. I spent four years under the popularity radar at school and didn't mind a bit. I loved playing saxophone in all the bands, and I loved everyone that participated with me. I may not have said so at the time, but every band person and some chorus people made life in high school bearable. While I did enjoy being drum major my senior year, I think I enjoyed playing the music more than flailing my arms about. College Western holds some of my best and worst memories. From an academic standpoint, my time in the music department was nothing short of euphoria. I had such pride in being in the elite Wind Ensemble and Jazz Studio Orchestra. The only class I dreaded was the trombone techniques class. Never did I work so hard for a B in my life. From a social standpoint, it was more of a seesaw. I fondly remember some friends and relationships, but there are a few that cause me great pain when I reflect upon them. It's not because I regret having known the person, it's more due to a desire to go back and change my behavior towards those people. When all is said and done, if given the chance to go back and relive all of it, the good and the bad, I wouldn't hesitate to accept.
