Patti Marrs:

CLASS OF 1973
La puente, CA

Patti's Story

I actually didn't get to go to La Puente High.. I was suppose to though. I went to Sparks Jr High, graduated from there in 1968 I believe.. My Mom had even taken me to enroll at La Puente HIgh, I was so excited to start there. . I went to Temple Elementary as well. We lived right behind it on Evanwood... Anyway from what I remember is that we packed up and left for Kansas it seemed like overnight, that summer after school let out in 1968, why I don't really know, even to this day.. Other than Dad's sister and his step dad lived here and this is where he grew up. My Sister Debbie, says it was all of a sudden. She's younger yet she remembers more than I do.. My Best friend was Cathy Kuist, I think we wrote a couple letters then lost track of each other.. If you were in my class, you may remember I was out for several months having hip surgery then they had a home school teacher come for several months. I missed a lot of the 8th Grade but I was there in 7th and then Temple before that. I do remember my 5th grade teacher was a Mr Goodman I believe. He use to like to use that paddle he had I remember.. Lived that whole year in fear I think.. LOL We did end up in Kansas, of course had to start school here. And they had the 9th grade still in the Jr. Highs here. I was not happy about that either.. I know I should recognize some of your names that have been checking out my profile.. I'm just now starting to put this part of my past I haven't dealt with together. As we were swept up from our home and relocated almost overnight, and as far as I can remember we didn't get to say good bye to friends an...Expand for more
d all. We also lived across from Bob Monaster. His Mom Helen use to watch us while our parents worked. I remember him well Saw him in the 1975 yearbook. I'm new to the full membership.. Saw Cathy in a couple. Took me right back, bringing tears.. I really did wonder about all my friends from La Puente growing up.. thought of Cathy and Bob and his family a lot as well. But life goes on I guess. I remember a girl nicknamed Spooky, Her real name was Lorraine, but was born on Halloween was where the spooky came in.. I am married to a really wonderful man, We've been married going on 42 years in May. We have 3 children, 2 girls and a boy all grown with children of there own add up to 9 grandchildren now. Our oldest Grandson signed up for the army right out of high school 2 years ago., The youngest will be born in June, so guess technically its 8.5 grand kids. There all so great. So I've had a really happy married life.. My husband worked for the Power company here in town till he had to retire because of his health. Had Tongue cancer that we are 9 years out being in remission.. I was a Nurse aid, and worked in medical records at one of the hospitals, here, managed a psychotherapy office as well. . My main passions are my family of course and we do get to travel some. I absolutely love the group The Moody Blues, they are a big part of my life. We travel from town to town when possible. Justin Hayward being my favorite singer.. I hope this may bring back some memories, and if you were in my class back then. I hope you have had as wonderful a life as I have had.. you all take care Patti (Buchanan)Marrs
