Patti's Story

Hi, My name is Patti (Corliss) Estrella. I lived on Branch St growing up. We had 7 kids in our family. My sister Claire & I were only 11 months apart,so we ended up always hanging out together. In school I hung out with Donna Russell,Linda Auld,Rosie Eusepi, her sisters Joanne & Carla,My best friend Moe (who moved back to Walpole)Paula Scialoia. Since school,I had one child,a son named Jerry. He is 37 yrs old now, hard to believe! He has 2 daughters & 1 son. My husband Billy has 2 daughters from his 1st marriage,Lisa is 42 and Joei-Lynn is 36. Lisa has a daughter,Joei has 2 sons. I am a shipping & packing room supervisor for a big co. My husband is a self employed engraver. I rarely see anyone that I went to school with. Between work, home & the grandkids,I am always going! I can't get over how much Mansfield has changed so much! Seems like every time I drive through that town, there is something new or different. Hey, at least it's all for the better,it looks awesome. Does anyone out there remember the night the town hall burned down? Remember the town hall dances they used to have there? The good old days! I remember hanging out at the old Bowling alley, next to Daggs Lounge! And who doesn't remeber Shribby's Gyp Joint! I remember going to Jacks to get their french fries all the time! And Circle C Stables,on Branch St. I spent a lot of time there, working for free so I could ride horseback for free! Mucking stalls & giving lessons,I'd do anything to be able to ride at the end of the day! Never forget the day Moe got kicked in the head by one of the horses! She was ok,but so scared. I remember as a teenager,it was so cool to walk uptown! That's what all the kids did there. Hardly anyone had cars back then,so the ones that did were really the coolest! Everyone w...Expand for more
anted to be their best friend! I remember swimming at the old Bleachery, all the toxins in there, lucky we all didn't die from cancer before we were 30! I remember CCD night, everyone went early to the old St. Mary's church on Church St, to hang around Sunnyvale Farms! I remember those HUGE blocks of chocolate from the chocolate factory, that my aunt worked at. God,I ate so much I made myself sick! Also, real young, going to the Memorial Park on Hope St,hanging out in the summer. Remember that pool with the sprinkler in the center? Looking back,it was only a wading pool, but it rocked as a kid! I remember a guy named Shorty getting hit in the eye with a softball, and the rescue had to come take him away, that was horrible. I remember all the basketball games in the gym, that was fun.Anyone remember Mr.Cunningham, the art teacher? He was the best teacher ever! I always hated Mr.Dunn after he put that "nosepicker" nickname on Steven Ianello in the 8th or 9th grade. The older I get,it still bothers me! What was he thinking,he was a grown adult!Well, now mid fifties,we've all got less to go than we've already been, and what a journey it has been! My son held a World Champion Arm Wrestling record. He even flew to Moscow & competed over there! Now,pushing 40,he's calmed down with it quite a bit,but still goes to practices here & there with the guys, and still beats them! I had an aneurysm of the brain at 28 years old,had surgery in Boston, and recovered 100%. Was back to work full time 3 months later, still half bald on one side! It's been a journey! Well,I guess I've bored everyone long enough with all my old tales! I tried to post a pix,it didn't go through.I am still not that computer literate, although I am on Facebook! Gotta love that Mafia Wars! Cheers everyone! Patti
