Patricia's Story
I decided to go back to school in 2005. I have finished all my classes for my degree in Human Services in August 2008. I walked in the graduation ceremony in October 2008. I have been in a graduate program for 2 months. I have am studying for a MS in education and counseling. I do volunteer work with Riverside County DA's office and the CA Youth Authority.
I finally retired in June 2008, from Albertson's after 33 years. (Oh my goodness) It does not seem possible that I have been with this company for sooo long. It has been an interesting experience. I look forward to working in a school setting and the challenge of motivating and getting children excited about learning.
October 29,2008 I was hired by a charter school to teach English to students in grades 9-12. I am looking forward to working with and teaching these students who are high risk youth.

My daughters are grown with families of their own. Let me tell you, that there is nothing better than being a grandparent. I am truly blessed by God, with my daughters and grandsons.
The story continues, the school asked me to come back for the school year 2009-2010; I would still be the English high school teacher, teaching 6 periods, but I was also taking on a new responsibility of guidance counselor. I had completed enough of my master's studies to apply for an intern counseling credential. Early in October, with the school having financial difficulties, like all schools, the middle school teacher was laid off and I had to take on the 7th and 8th grade, along with the high school. It has been an adventure, although much more a learning experience for the students and myself. It is now spring of 2010 and I have 4 classes left to complete an MS Ed.
