Jessica Vineyard's Story
I used to be Patti Gray. My name is now Jessica Vineyard. The picture in my profile is from my 66th birthday party in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.
I moved to Orange County, CA in 1976 and was a hairstylist for 28 years. I owned a salon in Newport Beach for six years.
I married in 1983 and moved to Ashland, Oregon in 1993 with my husband. I continued working as a hairstylist while attending Southern Oregon University. I earned my BS in chemistry in 2001 at the age of 44 and retired from doing hair. My husband and I divorced in 1997 after 16 years.

a year in graduate school in analytical chemistry but found that industry work wasn't for me. In July 2003 I bought an Aveda day spa and salon and managed twenty-five employees. The Phoenix closed in 2010, a victim of the 2008 economic crash. I became a freelance nonfiction book editor.
December 2o23 update: I sold everything in 2015 and traveled the world full-time for four and a half years, living out of a carry-on bag, my office strapped to my back. In 2019 I settled in Mexico for a couple of years, then moved back to Southern Oregon in November 2023.
