Trish's Story
I have a theory that there are only two people who are truly happy in high school … the head cheerleader and the captain of the basketball team. Since I was neither, needless to say I couldn’t get out of Kelowna fast enough after graduating! Kids who are a little different like I was struggle to fit in, but that’s okay … I have since learned that fitting in is highly overrated :)
I actually completed Grades 11 and 12 in three semesters and graduated in January because I was accepted into the Royal Academy of Dancing in London, England at the age of sixteen. My years in London were amazing, but unfortunately my career as a dancer was cut short due to injury and I returned to Canada to find a new passion. My second love had always been writing which led me to Simon Fraser University where I pursued a degree in Communications.
After many years working in corporate communications and media relations, the growth of the Internet and the software industry led me to a new career as a Software Business Analyst. I currently work for a UK-based company which allows me to telecommute from home. I absolutely love what I do and the best part about working out of my home office is...Expand for more
that a bad commute is one dog in the hall and a really bad commute is two dogs lol My work also involves a lot of travel around Europe which is great because I get itchy feet and like to wander.
Along the way, I married a wonderful man and had an equally wonderful son who is an RCMP officer specializing in narcotics. He likes to say he breaks down doors and steals people’s stuff for a living lol My husband is the bass player in a classic rock cover band which means in my spare time, I get to be a groupie ;) He is also a heart transplant recipient so we are very active with volunteer work for heart health and organ donor registration. We currently live up on a mountain outside Mission BC with our fur babies Gizmo and Dobby.
I'm an avid reader, a die-hard Canucks fan and an equally die-hard figure skating fan. If I'm not working, traveling, volunteering, cuddling my pups or throwing panties on the stage at one of my hubby's gigs (kidding!), you'll find me with my nose in a book or in front of the TV cheering on my favourites :)
If you remember the formerly geeky, misfit me (and aren't scared off by the currently geeky, still misfit me), I would love to hear from you!
