Patty's Story

Who am I really? Now you ask me this as I've lived 56 years on this planet? My mom once told me that you are who you are no matter how old you become. You retain your essence even though your packaging becomes saggy and wrinkled...how sad is that? I mean, the saggy and wrinkled part? However, it is something that nobody gets out of...unless you have a few bucks to nip and tuck...yes, I had a few extra bucks awhile back, and I decided to get a little botox around the eyes and Radiesse(?) around my mouth. Well, the mouth came out fine. The doctor tried to sew my lips together when I had my eyes closed so as not to watch the needle coming at me, but fortunately I opened my eyes just in time when he was knotting the thread and I pulled my brass knuckles out of my purse (that was hanging close by on the chair), and without having to use them (lucky for him although he does possess the skills to repair what those brass knuckles would've done to him), I demanded that he find his seam-ripper and remove the stitches immediately! The truth is that this was the first time I ever did something like this and wouldn't you know it that he made my left eyebrow lift up at the end? The right one was fine but the left one? I had to put my glasses on anytime my girls came to see me because if they knew that through my vanity I got messed up, I'd never hear the end of it. Plus it cost me good money damn it! I returned to his office soon after and he injected a little more, at no expense to me of course, and brought that baby back in line with the other one! That's my luck. That's always been my luck and thank God he gave me an extra dose of humor when he handed me over t...Expand for more
o the stork to deliver to Bernice, because it's always been one thing after another for me!! You've got to laugh and you have to realize that there are others that have bigger problems than you, more illnesses than you and you have to be thankful. I am very thankful that I made so many friends, many of whom I still correspond during my four-part stay at good old Cupertino High. I've got two daughters who I'm crazy for, a teenage granddaughter whom I love dearly although she's always been contrary to me, and another granddaughter who will be making her entrance at the end of April. My dog Stewie goes goofy anytime I open the back door to come home, and he's a wonderful companion. He even rides in the basket of my bike! I felt bad crating him when I went out on a ride, so I bought a basket, not knowing if he'd even go near it. I started him out when he was just a pup, and he knows when we're going and jumps up into my arms so I can put him in it. At first I thought I might resemble the Wicked Witch of the West when someone corrected me and told me that I looked like Dorothy's neighbor who rode her bike with her dog...like the wind!! I've been unfortunate in that I've spent most of my adult life with two men with addictions that I couldn't change. I'm sad and angered that it took me so much time to figure out that nothing I could do or say, or kindness that I could offer would change things with them. Now you can understand why my dog Stewie gives me so much joy! I will find someone at some point who will be wonderful to me, but I'm not out looking. I hope this finds anyone who takes the time to read this happy and healthy and living a most wonderful life!
