Patty's Story
Life
After Howland I attended Youngstown State University where I graduated in 1993 with a B.S. in Psychology. A few weeks later Greg McMillin (class of 1988) and I finally got married after 5.5 yrs of being engaged. After two brief years of graduate school first at Vanderbilt University then at Wake Forest University Medical School, we moved to the Dayton, Ohio area so Greg could take a job in his field. I started the Biomedical Sciences PhD program at Wright State University in 1996. You could say I'm the Queen of set-backs when it comes to finishing my degree. My first advisor at WSU left after my third year, then my second advisor left during my 5 quarters of medical leave. I'm some sort of good luck charm for my advisors finding their dream jobs. hey all over. On bad days, which I call pajama days, I feel like what I imagine it would feel like to be beaten about the head and body with a baseball bat. Luckily, I don't have too many bad days anymore. Greg's been a trooper and probably the biggest reason I make it through my worst days. Following two car accidents in 9 months though (rear-ended both times), its been difficult to finish my degree. I left WSU with a Master's in Physiology in the summer of 2006. We recently moved back to Warren to be closer to family and bought our first home. Luckily Greg's able to telecommute with his job at EDS. I gave birth to our first child, Daniel Patrick (named for his grandfathers) in Jan. 2008). Now I spend most of my time running after him. It looks like Daniel will be our only child, since I have developed rheumatoid arthritis. Hope to see everyone at our 20 yr reunion.
