Patty's Story
Life
In 1987 I moved to beautiful Lake Tahoe, CA. I now manage a convenience store and gas station here.
Having been a Navy brat all my life, we travelled a lot. My dad retired to Washington in 1964, where I did my senior year in high school. Up until then, I had had too many grade schools to keep track of, and 4 different high schools (Texas, Hawaii, and two in Washington). After graduating in 1965, I moved to Seattle and went to work. When I was 20, I married. I had a child the following year, and divorced two years after that. I then moved back to my home state of Calif, where I met my true love (a transplanted "Okie"). Then we moved to Wash in 1978 and stayed three years. In 1981, we moved to his home state of Okla, where he died unexpectedly in 1983(and I've been mad at him for that ever since!). I loved Okla and did stay for 5 more years, until my son graduated from High School. But by then, I was ready for a change.
It was 1987, and coincidentally, Caesars Tahoe was in OKC, recruiting and hiring for their Tahoe casino. On a whim, I applied and was hired on the spot! So I quit my job, put everything I owned in a rented s...Expand for more
torage unit (where it still is to this day!), and 6 weeks later, I drove 2300 miles to Lake Tahoe (for what I told myself was only going to be for the summer). I never went back.
I worked about 10 years in the casino doing various jobs, but mostly in the Sports and Race Book, and it was a lot of fun. But it's a fast life sometimes(too much fun!!?)and I sure as hell wasn't getting any younger, so I decided I'd better get a 'real' job again, and find out what the 'real' world was all about. And here I am! (Only sometimes I'm not so sure I even like this 'real' world, after all!).

School
Since my dad was in the Navy, I went to too many elementary schools to mention, and can't remember most, anyway! But after grade school, I went to 8th and 9th grades in Bishop, TX. Moved to Hawaii in 1962, and spent my Sophomore and Junior years at Campbell High. My dad retired in WA. and I spent my Senior year at Burlington Edison High, in Burlington, Wash. Went to LBCC in Long Beach, CA and junior college in Lake Tahoe, CA. I'm still in Lake Tahoe, and take a few classes now and then.
