Patty's Story
Life
Life is really good. I re-acquainted with an old friend who is my best friend ever!! I am helping him build his art business to fulfill some of his dreams at the same time as following through on some of my own dreams. I never knew life could be so good with your partner being your best friend ever. I have four children who have been the light of my life and probably saved it more times than I can count. I have one child still at home but she is 17 and she has starting spreading her own wings. I guess it is just a matter of time before they don't really need mom as much. I believe our children are a picture of ourselves, but improved. My three boys are all in the military and I hope and pray that they make it home safely along with all of our other military personnel. I am very proud of my children as they all work and all have healthy goals in life. I have one granddaughter who is probably smarter than most adults. I can't believe at six years old how she can carry on an adult conversation. I have recently lost 85# after carrying around this weight for over 20 years. I would...Expand for more
still like to lose another 10 or 20#. God is the key focus in my life and is the reason why I have succeeded at anything!!!
College
I just graduated from the University of Phoenix with a Bachelor's degree in health care administration. There were times I didn't think I would finish but I surprised myself and can now call myself a college graduate!!! I am starting my masters program in September 2008. Can't wait to get started and complete the next big step in my life. I thought I was getting too old to go to school but am grateful that my age did not deter me from trying.
Workplace
I work as a drug safety specialist for a biotechnology/pharmaceutical company. I love my job as we focus on finding a cure or treatment for cancer to help those with this horrific disease. This research is very close to my heart as I lost my mother three years ago to breast cancer. My maternal grandmother has had three forms of cancer and my paternal grandmother died of pancreatic cancer. I do hope that one day somebody will find a cure and prevent the pain and suffering this terrible disease causes.
