Paul's Story

School As a child we moved around a lot and the only school I went to for a whole year was Jr. High at Indianola Jr High in Columbus Ohio, which btw, was the very first Jr. High School in the Nation. I attended all 3 years (7,8,9th grades)66-67-68 then at 16 I started the 10th grade high school by starting part of a year at CHS (Chillicothe HS) then back up to North HS in Columbus, Ohio, then the 11th grade back down to CHS, then back up to North, then in the summer of the year I turned 18, I enlisted in the Army; because my lottery number for the draft was 8, so I enlisted 10 days after my 18th birthday. I attended elementary school in California,Indiana,Ohio and to my recolation didn't go to any one school for an entire school. College I attended OIT (Ohio Institute of Tech at the time a Bell and Howell School) in 1975; but ended up having what the doctors called a Psycotic break and was hospitilized at the Columbus State Psychartraic Hospital for a while, that interupted my education and I attend school again in 1980 and 1981 at Ohio State University (OSU) but didn't graduate. While in the Army I did however receive 30 semester hours through USAFI testing which gave you 3 semester credit hours for each test passed with at least 75% (Only one of which of mine was below the 99th percentile) so all told I gauess I could say I have an associate degree; but I never did consider letters after a name to mean anything, maybe I should submit a thesis or two of mine which I have over the year written and thrown into an old trunk, after all who knows maybe I would get a PhD, rofl Workplace I have worked numerous jobs and occupations and owned a few businesses; but I am currently disabled and have bee...Expand for more
n every since 1991 for which the Goverment pays me less then $500.00 a month on SSD (Social Security Disability) The VA never has gotten off their colective duffs and granted my Service connectd disability and the crux of the mater is that I am drawing SSD for injurys that were iniatley started from my Jeep wreck in Vietnam and that have progresavley gotten worse. Military My lottery number was 8 so I enlisted 10 days after my 18th birthday in 1971, basic at Ft. Knox, then AIT at Ft. Leonardwood Mo for 36k top 5% of class was sent down to Ft. Gorden Ga for 36L, where I went OJT which nullified my gurantee of Germany as my over seas duty station and I ended up on levie for Nam and was sitting in Nam less then a year after enlistment. I was promoted to E2 out of basic, E3 out of AIT (as part of being one of the top 5%) and 30 days after I hit Nam I was an E4. Started out at MACV DO then went up country to 57th AHC Gladiators as a 26T (I did a civilian acquired skill MOS change thinking I would get a gravy job with that MOS; but instead they sent me up to Pleiku; because of it being the electronic warfair Intell for the whole Theater)I ended up being an E4 with less then a year in service and then while up at the 57th I rolled a Jeep and was medivaced over to the airbase hospital where I remained in a coma for 3 days and in the hospital about 3 weeks. I was then sent back to the states to Ft. Knox to Armor School TV Division where I sent out all the AIT closed circuit TV Classroom feeds. I am now disabled with numerous physical disabilities and have been living on SSD (Social Security Disability) since 1991 UPTD: as of June 2009 I am now 20% service connected disability because of tuype 2 diabites
