Paul's Story
School
OK. Let's see....Married in 1971-lovely wife Mary & I produced 3 great offspring (go-figure!!). Retired from the USAF as a Major in 1994 (enlisted in the Active Naval Reserve out of HS, but switched to active enlisted USAF--finished BS and commissioned in 1980). Moved to Texas as a college managing director for 8 years, then to Chattanooga TN as a dean for 2, then in GA 3 years as a college VP (academic affairs). Next I served as a VP for Academic Affairs at Seminole State College, Oklahoma. Then College-wide VP for Special Initiatives at Cuyahoga Community College, Eastern Campus President, and currently Belmont College President.
Finished MS & Ed.D. Keep busy and love our grandsons (19 & 14). Married over 50 years to the love of my life: met her in Mississippi of all places!!) ;-)
I love long walks in the rain, Autumn, reading and watching science fiction (Doctor Who anyone?), and working with students. My wife, (Dr. Mary) and I are wondering if we'll ever ret...Expand for more
ire, given we still love working with community colleges. And it pays the rent. And the car. And the bills...
I miss the old days. I miss singing with the best partner in the world (Michael O'Shea--buy his albums!!, and the Monument Creek Can Kickers!!). I miss exit 70 on the LI expressway. I miss choir. I miss singing at the Church. I miss Ed Alexander (anyone know where he went off to?). And I miss all my high school friends.
I love the new days. We aren't promised tomorrow, so I am thankful for every takeoff and every safe landing, and meet the new day with thanks. Two terrific grandsons, and both daughters (Marty and Elizabeth are doing great), and our highly musically talented son, Paul, who built, owned and ran a world-class recording studio in Atlanta GA, passed away in 2019. We miss him dearly. Every day.
I think it's cool how we were all teenagers once. And 30. And 50. Now, over 70, it's a real eye-opener. I hope you all feel as blessed as I do. Ciao.
