Paul's Story

Life Hello, everyone. My major news of recent years is that I moved to Norway in September 2000 to marry a Norwegian woman (Liv Marit Dalen, a schoolteacher, singer, and artist) who I originally met on the Internet. We first came into contact with each other in January 2000, met in person for the first time in April, became engaged in May, and married here in Bergen, Norway on Sept. 22, 2000. I'm a pianist and composer, and also have certification in the field of speech-language pathology. After Doherty High School, I spent most of the next 20 odd years in a variety of universities (mostly at Clark University, University of Chicago, and Emerson College) and academic fields (music composition, mathematics, speech-language pathology,...Expand for more
and a few others). I spent seven years in Chicago, coming close to a doctorate in music, while working as a pianist, composer, and concert director. I've played piano in many nightclubs and restaurants, and at concerts, and some of my compositions have been published or broadcast. I also earned a degree in mathematics, and worked as a speech-language clinician. Now, however, I'm starting a new life in Norway surrounded by the beautiful countryside, mountains, lakes, forests, and fjords. I have been active here as a pianist, composer, and piano teacher, as well as a "helgeforelder" or "weekend parent", in providing social services on a regular basis for a retarded girl with a special syndrome that gives her special musical talents.
