Paul's Story
Life
After high school I worked and did local music and theater. Then I made the mistake of marrying the wrong woman. Problem was it took me a decade to finally accept the fact. During that decade I joined the Army for three years to earn money for college.
After the Army, I got a degree in electronics technology and went to work at a large aerospace firm -- then named Lear Seigler, now Smiths Aerospace. I learned to program computers so after a few years I wrangled a promotion into software engineering. This was just about the same time I got divorced.
While working in engineering I went back to school and got my bachelors in Computer Science. Then I married the right woman! I eventually became a Systems Engineer.
Which brings us to today. I live in East Lansing with my wife Leanne. We've been married 5 years, and helping keep us company are my youngest daughter Andrea (22), and my stepson Tom (16). My son Shaun (25) lives in Monta...Expand for more
na where he is working to wrap up a doctorate in mathematics.
As of January, at my wife and physician's urging, I retired from my position at Smiths The extra rest is much needed and as a result I'm feeling better than I have in quite some time. Overall, life is good. As long as I don't push myself too hard the good days predominate. I have a good family, a nice place to live, and no financial worries. What's to complain?!?
So I do things like sort through my old pictures and pester old friends. I'm looking forward to summer when I can get out a bit.
As far as health, ten years ago I was diagnosed with CREST form Scleroderma and Dermatomyositis, both autoimmune disorders.
This is all rather new to me as I was working up through the the first week of this year. I'm working to take stock and figure out how much I can do without harming my health. I've taken up guitar at home but I miss the interaction with like-minded folks.
