More about Paul:"Paul Hill, Jr. As of January 31, 2011, retired after 30 years as the CEO of a 104 year old neighborhood based non-profit youth organization in Cleveland, Ohio. However, he still serves as President of East End Neighborhood House. The organization is one of the oldest and largest child/youth and family services organizations in Cleveland, Ohio. Paul also is the Founder and President of the National Rites of Passage Institute and an adjunct faculty member, Cleveland State University, Department of Social Work. Other employment experiences have been the Federal Government (U.S. Justice Department and U.S. Department of Health, Education and Welfare) and education within the public school system and institutions of higher education. His educational background is B. A. Education, Ohio University, Athens, Ohio, M. A.’s University of Kentucky, Lexington, Kentucky and University of Wisconsin, Madison. He is a licensed social worker. In 2002, he completed training with the Gestalt Institute of Cleveland in organizational and systems development. Other experiences and projects are related to being a W. K. Kellogg Foundation Leadership Fellow (1989-91, Group X). His learning project was studying male socialization in indigenous cultures. supported his field of study and research through its African American Boys and Men Initiative (1993-1996). In 1992 he wrote a book, Coming of Age, African America Images, Chicago. The book was based on his field of study and applications. Since 1992 he has published several articles in peer-review journals on rites of passage as a ritual for human development. He wrote Rites of Passage: Birth, Initiation, Marriage, Death, a Chapter in African Presence in Black America, 2004. He recently was featured as a TEDXCLEV speaker on ritual and community regeneration. In 1993 he established the National Rites of Passage Institute (NROPI). NROPI is a youth development and community building clearing house and cultural resource center. The Institute provides training, technical assistance, research and development and intentional conversations on rites of passage as a strategy for youth development and community building. Paul Hill Jr., has been a practitioner and scholar of rites of passage for over 30 years. After many years of field study and practice he founded the National Rites of Passage Institute. The Institute has provided training to 1000 men and women from 20 cities, the District of Columbia and Toronto, Canada; they have been actively involved in mentoring and supporting a minimum of 10,000 children and youth in neighborhood and community based programs. Recently he received the Greater Cleveland Urban Leagues Living Legend Award. Mr. Hill is a board of trustees’ member, The Mississippi Center for Education Innovation and the Cleveland State University Department of Social Work Visiting Scholars Committee. As of February 1, 2012, he and his wife Marquita Mc Allister-Hill have celebrated 43 years of marriage with a family of 5 daughters, 2 sons and 6 grandchildren. All of his children are university graduates and posts graduates and actively involved as change agents in their respective communities.".
