Paul's Story
I was born in Fremont in 1959 at Washington Hospital , so by default I am a Fremont native. I lived in Cabrillo Park until the age of 8, and by no decision of my own, was transplanted into Newark. I never liked the town or it's schools.
Newark is a weird town. In 1955 when all the surrounding towns we're banding together to form Fremont (Niles, Centerville, Warm springs, Irvington,Mission, and Newark) Newark decided to stay ...Expand for more
independent once they discovered that the plan was to make Newark the industrial part of Fremont, and where the landfills were to be. In other words... the nuclear waste dump for Fremont. Unfortunately for Newark and it's citizens because of that decision, they gained a reputation of being a rebel town without a clue. So if you live in Newark and find yourself telling people you're from Fremont...you know you're in Newark.
