Paul's Story

Upon graduating from MHS, I entered NU in Boston, where I pursued a degree in education, majoring in physical education. Graduation took place in 1974 and I took a job as the first full-time PE teacher at Bishop Feehan High School. Shortly, I realized that the salary scale was significantly lower than the public sector. Thus, after four years, I left Feehan and was hired, teaching physical science at South Attleboro Middle School Unfortunately, Proposition 2 1/2 passed and we were all scrambling for work. My wife lost her job in Norton and I lost my job in Attleboro. In addition, I had started to matriculate at New England School of Law to earn a JD. Luckily, I was hired as a physical science teacher at North Attleboro Junior High School, now the Community School, and Vicki was hired as a physical educator in the Wrentham Public Schools. We were living in Attleboro on North Main Street and remained there for 10 years under stellar conditions. I earned my JD in 1984 and postponed the BAR exam because our older daughter, Courtney, was born in July 1984. Consequently, I took the BAR examine in February 1985 and passed on the first attempt. Vicki continued to teach in Wrentham. She was later certified in elementary education and became a grade one teacher. I was transferred to North Attleboro High School to teach earth science and some physical education. I became the first health coordinator at North Attleboro High School and devised a two year health curriculum, required for graduation. I still was involved in physical education as well. i had made a complete transition to grade one and did not regret it. I continued my tenure at the North Attleboro Public Schools for the next 28 years, while Vicki remained teaching grade one in Wrentham. Our second daughter, Kelsey, was born in 1987. Courtney graduated a valedictorian from Norton High School and Kelsey graduate with a rank in the top ten of her class. Both attended URI on partial academic scholarships. Courtney ran Division I track and, because of her performance, earn a "grant in aid" athletic scholarship as well. Upon graduation, Courtney was given a scholarship for a doctorate program in physical therapy at UNE in Portland, Maine. Kelsey married and moved to Conway, NH. Upon graduation, Courtney moved to South Attleboro and works as a PT at a local hospital outpatient clinic. On the other hand, Kelsey earned an EMT and conducts educational classes at SOLO in Conway. We sold our house in Norton in December 2013. Immediately, we moved in with Courtney in South Attleboro. In June 2014, we migrated to Conway and lived with Kelsey and her family. In November 2014, we started a construction project involved removal of Kelsey's barn/garage and erecting a new, state of the art, structure. That project was not completed unit June 2015. Ultimately, we were vagabonds for much too long. We are now settled and we're both retired educators. If anyone is interested in any construction pictures, just send a note with a valid email address. I did do professional photography with McGrath Studios and Chestnut Hill Studios for ten years.
