Paul's Story

Life Well, what can I say. After high school I was worked as a lumberjack, electrician, was in the Navy, an aircraft mechanic for ATA, and am currently a student at IUPUI. While I was an electrician, Lance Roth and Troy Morrical were my roommates. Brian Brush should have paid rent too cuz he was always over there! We ran out of money in about 6 months, and me and Lance joined the Navy where we were both stationed in San Diego at the same squadron (HSL-45). That was pretty cool, even though we didn't get to hang out much cuz I went out to sea for 6 months, then he went out for 6, then I went out for 6 more, however we were working together when we got the news that Brian Brush had passed away. Besides, Lance had married a girl that lived below us while we had the apartment and she was a real B. The fights that they would get into when Lance and I would go to Tijuana were something, especially when Troy and Jeff Morgan came out to see us! After the Navy, I moved back to Indy in 1998. I got married to my wife, Julie in 1999, and our first son Justin was born Nov. 27, 1999. Since I had worked on aircraft in the Navy, and loved it, I continued doing that contracting for ATA. However, I lost that job after the terrorist attacks on Sept. 11, 2001. That day was a real bummer, cuz my wife and I closed on our house in Avon that day and I knew that I had lost my job! Oh well, we have managed and still live there today. After that, I was a stay at home dad for a while, and our second son Christian was born on Oct. 12, 2002. However, it started to get on my nerves just staying at home and not working, so I enrolled at IUPUI where I am currently studying Secondary Education Mathematics. That's right, ME, a school teacher. Who'd a thought? It is a major transition from manual labor, and I still hate wearing a tie! Thank God for Dockers and collared golf shirts. I graduate in Dec. 08' and hope to get a job around here so we don't have to sell our house. I hope that all this hard work staying on the dean's list will pay off. Besides going to school there, I also work at the Math Assistance Center on campus during the school year. Well, that's pretty much it. Lance, Troy, and I are still friends. Troy married Jennifer Booth and they have a daughter Josie, as well as Jennifer's daughter Paige. Lance got a...Expand for more
divorce from the B and is now on his second marriage, although no kids yet. That's it. I don't think my life would make the New York Times best sellers list. However, it would still be nice to hear from y'all so drop me an email if ya like. Take care and God Bless. School Well, one thing I can say about being a father is that my kids can't do anything that I haven't done! I did some pretty stupid things in school, including extra-curricular activities that had nothing to do with school. Man, kids do the stupidest things! The teachers that inspired me most was probably Wally Davis and Doc. Wally showed me that a teacher could be very successful while not being a dick, while Doc taught me that beer gets cold in 7.6 on ice - a real life lesson! God bless them. College 2002-present. I currently attend Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis where I am pursuing a B.S. in Secondary Education Mathematics. Furthermore, I am a tutor at the universities Math Assistance Center. Military HSL-45 (1995-1998) Naval Air Station North Island. I did two 6 month West Pac deployments, plus all the work ups, the first on the U.S.S. Ingraham (FFG-61), and the second on the U.S.S. Valley Forge (CG-45). My biggest memories, and some memory losses, were from Thailand, Hong Kong, and Australia, all of which I will keep to myself ; ). Some things just can't be shared without violating the member conduct and terms of service of this website! However, the one memory that I will share is when then Airman Loya and I reported to the Valley Forge for our deployment in handcuffs. There was about 5 or 6 of us at the E-club where the ship was moored and I had bought pitchers of beer for the whole table. Well, Loya was underage and when he served himself a beer we were arrested. Lets just say that was the last time I bought a round for those guys! After explaining what happened, the charges were dropped, and I never had to stand in front of the old man. Oh ya, then there was the time I was frocked second class petty officer on board ship. Man, that was painful for a while, at least til my arm went numb! Being an airdale on board with a bunch of black shoes did have its advantages and disadvantages, and lets just say being frocked on board ship was NOT an advantage, well besides the sea pay!
