Paul's Story

Life Let's see. Married and divorced twice. Four kids, 3 girls (two of them teachers) and a boy. Twelve grandkids (9 boys and 3 girls). Now retired (well, somewhat) in Tucson, AZ. Work parttime scoring "expository writing", etc. for various state grade school and high school tests. I really should have a 40 hour a week job so that I'd have time for my hobbies. When I'm not doing that, I teach karate about 6 hours a week (partly to senior citizens and partly to kids). In 2003, I was awarded my black belt by the Sun City Vistoso Karate Club. In Jan. 2005 received a Basic Instructor certification in Close Quarters Combat from the Scientific Fighting Congress at a camp in Las Vegas, and in Oct 2005 a Ikku (1st grade) brown belt in karate by Kuniba Kai International Motobu-Ha Shito-Ryu located in Japan. I'm also an NRA certified Refuse To Be A Victim Instructor. I'm working on my 15th gallon as a blood donor. I have been volunteer teaching CPR and First Aid for the Red Cross for 15 years now, and was mentioned in the acknowledgements for the current "Workplace CPR, First Aid, and Automatic Electronics Defibrilation" book. Since retiring, I also spent about 25 weeks doing volunteer archaeology here in AZ. As far as ancient history is concerned, I was a Camp Fire volunteer for the Chicago Meto Council for 10 years, active for about 5 years with the K of C, was a Sgt. in the Longmont Colorado Police Resever Unit for 8 years, and an EMT and senior rescuer for 6 years (in both CO and WY). Of course, I still read a lot (mostly science fiction, history, and martial arts), tr...Expand for more
