Paul's Story
Hi all...
Janice (Curry....WSHS class of 1960) and I were married in 1964...........we have 4 children (two sons then two daughters) and 9 grandchildren. I got a BS and MBA at the University of Scranton, worked in Scranton at Eureka Specialty Printing Co. for three years as an Industrial Engineer and then Haddon Craftsmen on Ash and Wyoming Ave. (going from Chief Industrial Engineer to Plant Manager).
We left Scranton in 1979 to join the Simmons Company (Mattresses) in Atlanta, GA (Director of Engineering), then a series of promotions allowed us to move from Atlanta to San Ramon, CA (near SF), then Columbus, OH and then back to the Corporate Offices in Atlanta in 1993 as Vice President of Manufacturing and Quality.
Here, I had responsibility for all 18 Manufacturing Plants (including one in Hawaii and one in Puerto Rico) and 2200 employees. This job required a lot of domestic travel and interaction with each Plant's VP/General Manager and staff........I have over a million miles on Delta Airlines a...Expand for more
lone.
I was able to retire early (12/31/2001). We built a house in Mesa, AZ and are living in an "active retirement" community.........27 hole golf course, two swimming pools, tennis courts, shuffleboard, Activity Center for Concerts, Plays, etc. You can see it by going to sunlandsprings.com
Our children (Paul III, Jeffrey, Lori and Jennifer) are now all married and living with their families in Portland, OR, Pleasanton, CA (near SF) and Columbus, OH.).
We've also had the opportunity to travel a lot (both Business and pleasure). I've been to just about all of the European and Scandinavian cities, England, Ireland, Mexico and Puerto Rico. We have a timeshare on Kauai, so we have been to Hawaii 8 or 9 times and visited most of the islands. We also love to travel on Cruise Ships. So far we have made 2 TransAtlantic Cruises and 4 or 5 Caribbean/Mexican Cruises."
I hope to hear from some of my former classmates (WSHS Class of 1959) and to see some of them at our 50th Reunion in 2009.
