Paul's Story
Life
After high school I moved to Evanston, IL to go to music school at Northwestern University. Took 2 years with a full course load, then after that I moved to the north side of Chicago with a religious group called Sabaean Religious Order. I wrote and performed (with help) the music for their festivals. You can read about it in Margot Adler's book Drawing Down the Moon. Meanwhile, I finally graduated in 1974 while taking courses at Northwestern at a leisurely pace.
In 1975 was initiated into AfroCuban religion called Santeria. And worked as a santero (priest) for some years.
Then in the mid 80's went back to school and in 1986 became a licensed chiropractor and have been working as one on the south side of Chicago since then.
Over the years, I continued my predilection for Self-realization by joining various meditation groups of different persuasions. Studied a meditation practise begun by a Manhattaner, Rudi, (one of his books is a cult classic called Spiritual Cannibalism) and carried forward by his student, Stuart Perrin. teach QiGong classes. This is my passion and I practise approximately 18 hours per week either teaching or at a Zen Temple, where I am studying to become a Zen Buddhist Priest in the White Plum lineage.
Was married mid 70's. There are 2 children who came therafter. I also raised a nephew (my wife's deceased brother's son). Daughter, Ayisha, is a professional ballet dancer with the Leipziger Ballet in Leipzig, Germany. Son, Alexander, has a year or so more at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach, Florida. He wants to fly aircraft for the Navy and is in ROTC. Nephew, Jon, has worked for years as a stained glass craftsman in the Oak Park area of the city. You may know, Frank Lloyd Wright was based in Oak Park and he liked stained glass as did his disciples. Lately though he is just finishing the training to be a pipefitter in the union. I think because he wants to make some serious money.
My wife, Christie Nina, presently since summer of '07 works at Creative Health Institute in Union City, Michigan as promotional agent. Just now we see each other 1/2 week every other week. Either I visit her or she comes to Chicago.
