Paul's Story

Paul died of end stage emphysema on March 15, 2020. He is survived by his son Greg, his brothers David and Tom, and his sisters Barbara and Sherry as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Paul married Donna Cimato of West Seneca on 11/2/68. In 1969 he was drafted, but was luckily stationed in Korea at the DMZ during Vietnam. After his honorable discharge, he returned home and had one child with his wife, Greg, born on 6/5/72. Paul attended Canisus College and graduated with a B.A. in business. Donna and Paul divorced in 1981, after 13 years of marriage. In 1983, Paul moved to Baltimore, MD; where he lived the remainder of his life. He worked in sales and was a leader in the commercial sales division at Orkin Pest Control for the majority of his life. On Thanksgiving of 1987, he met his life partner, Cindy. He stayed with her for the remainder of his life, but never re-married. He enjoyed going to Otter Creek Campground in the summers and had a little vacation house in Frostproof, FL for the winters. He enjoyed his pontoon boat and loved fishing. Although he was not blessed with grandchildren, children were drawn to him and he loved to take kids & their parents tubing on his boat. He loved to make others happy. He was an all around handyman and was always the first to lend a hand to anyone. Paul made life better wherever he would go. He always decorated for all the holidays and often won best decorations for Christmas in July. In FL, he ...Expand for more
took the responsibility to set up and decorate all of the streets in his neighborhood with candlelight jugs. He did this even his last year, when oxygen limited his mobility and ability to breathe. Paul led a very full and happy life, bringing joy and leadership to everyone he encountered. When Paul would arrive somewhere, he was like the Mayor. “Paul’s here, now we can start.”; was a familiar phrase uttered by people around him. He had a magnetic personality and a zest for life. Always the center of attention, he enjoyed being around people and talking. He also enjoyed thrift shopping and could never pass up a flea market or garage sale. For those of us fortunate enough to have known him, his loss has left a hole that can never be filled. Paul spent the majority of his last year in hospitals, due to his emphysema and complications of that disease. Numerous pulmonary embolisms, as well as lung cancer. To say that he’s missed is an understatement - for everyone who knew him. He chose to be cremated, and his ashes spread at the lake he loved to boat, fish and camp on, where he spent his happiest times, camping. He had a very infectious laugh and made everyone feel comfortable in his presence. I try to picture him laughing by a campfire, going fishing, taking people out on his boat, and simply enjoying life - surrounded by people who adored him. No one I’ve ever met has enjoyed life as much as Paul. Please, think of him once in a while,
