Paul's Story

As I write this I look back on all that has happened in my life and all the wonderful friends I have made. After moving from Alexandria, I completed my Senior year in Macon, GA. I met some nice people but as you can imagine it is hard when you are the new kid on the block. However, moving did offer some advantages, I got to play football for my new school, which was quite different from Alexandria. An away game would be an all day event as we had to travel in some cases over a hundred miles to play another school of our size. Plus in most cases we would play our games in college stadiums. In addition, my new school had an ROTC program, which helped me in my time in the Army. After graduation, I attended Mercer University and later transferred to Georgia State University to study Marketing, which led to a job with Macy's Department Store. As with most of us guys, of that time, we got called by Uncle Sam, so I spent my time in the Army. It was a great learning experience and lucky for me, I got to see a lot of Europe, instead of other parts of the world. After my return from the Army, I spent part of my career in Sales and Marketing for different retail companies opening and managing new stores. After moving to Chicago, in the late '70s I went into office equipment sales where I have since been the National Sales Manager for the old AB Dick Company and later for Standard Duplicating. ed my own office supply business. After a successful few years start up, I merged that business with another company, where I am VP of Sales and Marketing today. This gave me more time to pursue my passion of becoming a DJ. While I never made it to my dream of being on the radio, I have been fortunate enough to have success playing and emceeing for parties, dances, receptions and corporate events as well as playing backup for a wonderful singer. We perform on weekends in and around the Chicago area. I have to say in my later years, life has been good. I was married twice and have four children, two step-children and seven grand-children, who are all wonderful. It wasn't until 2007, that I met the true love of my life, who is also the singer I back up. We have had a wonderful time working together and I am looking forward to what the future holds. We are looking to do some traveling after we retire from our full-time jobs and maybe taking our show on the road. I would be great to see our name in lights in Las Vegas, you never know. For now I am still living in the Chicago area braving the cold winters but I can't think of any other place I would rather be. As for my bucket list, I would like to take my sports car out for a road trip through the Blue Ridge Mountains and take a hot air balloon ride. Most importantly I want to have time to paint so that I can leave something behind for my kids.
