Paula's Story
I had to quit high school in 1963 because my father had a heart attack and with nine kids, I had to go to work to help support the family. I married in 1966 and had three children by 1970. We lost our oldest son to cancer in 1979. In the early 1970s I earned my GED and went on to become a medical records professional (RHIT). I worked for the local Professional Review Organzation in Buffalo, NY and ultimately, in 1985, went to work for MAXIMUS, Inc., a health care consulting firm and worked for them until my forced retirement this year due to health issues. still married to my husband. We were married in 1966. I have had three major surgeries in the last two years - two knee replacements and a hip replacement. I am facing another hip replacement and possible back surgery. We now live in sunny and HOT Arizona northeast of Phoenix.
I always wanted to be a brain surgeon when I grew up. My family and friends thought that was a crazy idea. As it turns out, they were right.
My favorite way to relax is to read.
The one person from my past who I'd most like to see again is Kathy Sherman, because we were best friends.
