Paula's Story
Life
First on the list, I am a proud grandma of a two-year-old baby girl! I also have two beautiful daughters who are grown and out of high school. The oldest (Bethany) is 24 and the mother of my grandbaby; Lindy is the youngest and graduated from Sumner in 2004. She has just joined the Air Force and is serving our country with pride. I love to sew, enjoy walking with my two dogs, and love to spend time with family and friends, playing games or just visiting. I also enjoy going to musical events, like the Oldies Concert I went to at the White River Amphitheater. I wondered whether any of you were there!
Currently, I work at Sumner Junior High as an English Theme Reader. I have worked in secretarial positions in the past, but mostly I have worked in school settings. I really enjoy working with children! However, I have just graduated (February 2006)from school at Ashmead College in Fife to become a Licensed Massage Practitioner, while I still keep my job at the junior high. I am very excited about that, since I love to help people and get them feeling better. I have come to appreciate the benefits of massage and enjoy giving massage, so I thought it would be a good area to go into, since it is in demand in the job market. I also want to learn something new, plus be able to earn more money! So, needless to say, I will be a very busy woman now until the end of the school year, since I decided to finish out the school year working at the Middle School. I thoroughly enjoy working in the field of massage, as well, since I am now a proud Massage Practitioner!
On a sad note, I am recently divorced, but am looking for things to change for the better in 2005 and beyond. Thankfully we parted amiably, not in an ugly manner! Consequently, I am enjoying having my own place now, since I've never had that experience before. I was married for almost 27 years, and lived at home until I got married, so it is a fun, new experience! God has kept me strong; it has been a time of growing & stretching, for sure! I must say, it is nice to leave in the morning and come back to a clean place! It is so much easier to keep a smaller home clean, rather than a big family home! It is refreshing!
Anyway, life is good and family and friends make it the best. I really look forward to hearing from my former classmates! There are so many great memories to share. There are also new ones to make! I have enjoyed finding so many of you on this website; what a...Expand for more
fun tool!
Take care, and I really hope to hear from you all!

Workplace
I live and work in the Sumner area. I love it here - a small town feel and great football games to see at the high school. I currently work for Sumner Middle School - yes those squirrely young teenagers! They are very busy and a handful! I evaluate all the writing projects that they do - the ones the teachers send me, at least. I am busy with the lovely writing assessments that we all did in school. So I feel buried right now. I check for content area, organization, grammar and spelling, etc. It is a good job, but I keep looking for something that will get me working directly with people! I am tired of working alone for the most part. Too much sitting, too. This is my sixth year doing this same job.
I have also worked for a private school for seven years before this, where I was a teacher's assistant. I enjoyed that, where I worked at the elementary level. That is my favorite age! I mostly worked with second and fourth graders. They are so precious! With my working there, my girls were able to attend there, so it gave them a great head start with their schooling, as it was quite academic.
I am moving on to other life skills, too. The middle of February 2006 I graduated from Ashmead College, so now I will begin a career as a Licensed Massage Practitioner. I am very excited to start this new path in my life. There is a large demand for massage; it is such a great healer for us all. I have experienced its benefits first hand, after being in a couple of bad car accidents over the years. It really helps and speeds the healing! Feels great, too! So relaxing!
I have also worked several office and secretarial jobs over the years. I just like variety in whatever I do. I like to keep busy and am excited to put my talents to work with massage, but hopefully I can use all of my skills wherever I settle to work in this new field. I am excited to explore the options, anyway. I think this will be the most rewarding field yet! With my experience working with children, maybe I will go into working with kids - or pregnant women, like I did for my daughter when she had an uncomfortable pregnancy. I massaged her every night, just about. She really swelled with fluid! Poor thing. She said that it helped a lot.
Whatever I do, I hope to run into some of you, possibly. I look forward to hearing from many of you soon.
