Paula's Story

Life After graduating from East in 1980, I went to work for a couple of years and did the party scene. Then one day out of the blue, I decided to join the USAF. I served from 1982-1987 as a medic. My ex-husband and I were stationed in Washington, DC, Hampton, VA, Rhein Main, Germany and finally Fayetteville, NC. We separated and divorced in 1994. I moved back to W/S to raise my then 4 year old son and started working for an ENT surgeon at Baptist. I reconnected with an old friend, and we got married in May 1997. t last. Just goes to show you that everything happens for a reason even though we may not know what the reasons are. Military I joined the USAF in 1982 after deciding that my life was going nowhere and that I didn't want to end up married to a "POS" and have multiple babies, living paycheck to paycheck. Best choice I ever made. I was very successful in the military, receiving multiple awards and early rank. I went into the medical field and truly enjoyed my 6 years of experience in the military. I would recommend it to anyone who doesn't know what their life goals are. I was able to choose a career goal and traveled extensively. At one point I lived in Germany for 4 years.
