Paulette's Story
How did we get here so fast??
Seems like only yesterday I was running down the soccer field trying to sneak out the back gate!
My parents both worked and we lived a couple of blocks from school! Boy I hightailed it out of that back gate more than a few times to get home and cause mischief.
Yeah! Go WARRIORS, THUNDER THUNDER THUNDERATION,!!
I watched West high school being built for God sakes!
Rode my bike past it all the time watching the progress...
Before you knew it! I was there fresh from St James Catholic School.
I was probably one of those Catholic kids you saw in class stand up when an adult walked into class.
So embarrassing, but that is what we were taught in Catholic School!
Actually I got lucky to be at West High
. I was actually slated for Bishop Montgomery, but a priest had hit my older brother with a pointer in BM and he passed out......, so mom said I didn'...Expand for more
t have to go there when it was my turn.
HERE I COME WEST HIGH
Writing this, I "feel the school" I can hear the clatter of our locker doors as we slammed them shut rushing to our next classes.
Does anyone remember the year of the "granny gown" protest?. We wore them to school in protest of always hearing how we could not wear our skirts so short!
WOW, If only West High had such trivial things to worry about by yesterday's standards!
I would say we lived in a time of innocence. Lucky us! There we were, young, hopeful, spunky!
I think we were so very fortunate to have been at that school!
I remember after the granny gown incident, Mr Peters said that maybe I would be happier at REDONDO HIGH!
Are you kidding? GULP
Yes, that scared me straight!
In summary, for those who remember me HOWDY, hope all is good!
...as we move forward well into that age group we once laughed at!
