Peggy's Story
Here it is, an Indiana summer, hot, humid, thunderstorms always on the way from somewhere. Always happens at fair time but I guess those two things just go together.
I have now retired after 33 years in early childhood education. There was never a day I didn't want to go to work. I really, really enjoyed my work. And now, do I miss it? Not at all.
Now I am filling my time with music, playing my mandolin, guitar, and singing. I go to about four jams a week, mostly county/gospel/bluegrass. Thinking of taking some fiddle lessons now.
I'm not sure if the people listed on this site are really members. I often wonder why people don't drop a friendly note. I did at first and rarely got an answer. I have greatly enjoyed reading your profiles. Most of you sound so happy and successful and I know there are many other wonderful things about you besides education, job and family. I wonder about so many of you.
For those of you who might be interested here is the short and unadorned version of me since graduation in 1965:
Returned to my home state of California
Attended Modesto Junior College
Met a young Air Force fellow

hat young Air Force fellow
Moved to Indiana
Attended Purdue University (CC)
Graduation cut short by pregnancy of first son
Adored motherhood so much that I quickly had two more sons
Became the owner of a local preschool (not a daycare..none of those dirty diapers for me!) Ooops, I said this was going to be unadorned. :D I have been teaching for 30 years.
My young Air Force fellow passed away in 2003 following another heart surgery.
#1 son married and two daughters
#2 son married with three daughters
#3 son has been fighting a debilitating auto immune disease for many years.
I also get paid for speaking and singing! Yep, I do.
I still sing soprano in the choir.
I direct an interpretive dance group.
I teach the hula.
I play the mandolin and guitar and may begin fiddle lessons this fall.
I sing at bluegrass/gospel/country jams
I am still torchy just like in our yearbook. Just add an 05 to that and you might be hot on my mail. ;)
I'm allowing my mistakes to become blessings.
What about you?
Please don't be afraid to say hello. No strings attached to that, you know. Would love to hear about you.
