Peggy's Story

Life Let's see ..... I moved to the Houston area in 1978 with my two kids. After a 7-year hitch at Ogilvy & Mather (advertising, PR and corporate communications), I went to work for Toyota in 1986 -- I'm still there so obviously, I really like the company and my work. Son Jim married Tiffany in January 2001, and their son Jacob was born 9/10/01. He's the cutest little red-haired guy ever, and I'm thrilled to be Nana! Then in 2009 they blessed our family with precious Julianne - the fiercest little daredevil you'd ever want to meet. Daughter Michelle married Joel in April 2005, and they presented me with my grandprincess in January 2007. Princess Maddie and I spent a lot of Tuesday evenings together (so mom & dad can have some couple time). I wish my son & dil lived closer so I could have regular evenings with Jacob (the world's GREATEST grandson)! My current hobbies are quilting, reading, working out, camping and collecting depression-era and art glass. Thanksgiving 2008 found me fulfilling a long-held dream: a week-long camping trip to Big Bend National Park. One of the photos is me checking out the "bear locker" at our campsite -- I was relieved to know it was big enough and sturdy enough for me to hide if any bears actually showed up -- LOL. (They didn't.) In 2009 a miracle occurred and Rex Moreland & I reconnected on Facebook. We clicked, the timing was right and ...Expand for more
now we're in central Ohio together, operating two businesses while he works at IBM. I still wake up every once in awhile in shock and awe that we live in OHIO. LOL! My biggest vice is still driving too fast -- can't seem to get that lead foot under control....but now that I'm disguised as a middle-aged suburban grandma, I don't seem to get stopped as often. (Gee -- I wonder why that is???) I always wanted to be a race car driver when I grew up. My family and friends thought that was a crazy idea. As it turns out, they were wrong -- I still think I'd have been a great one. If we could improve our home, I'd vote to remodel the kitchen, finish the basement bathroom and add a pool. My dream home would be either a log cabin in the woods somewhere, or an RV that we could live in, going from state/national park to park as a park host (and quilt shows around the country, selling our wares!) My best friend would tell you I'm shy but kind-hearted, and very intelligent, but people who don't know me very well would probably describe me as stuck-up and a typical dumb blonde. (I do have an official "Queen of the Space Cadets" pin for those moments when having blonde hair isn't quite enough ...) The only trophy I have (that I can remember) is from my inter-mural wrestling days at SWTSU. (Bet you didn't see that one coming!) I'd love to hear from any old friends or classmates from Cobre!
