Peggy's Story
Let's see...I loved my 20's. Going to College in Eugene was the greatest. I made some wonderful friends and I grew up a lot. I made my share of mistakes but I loved and learned.. I met my husband, Jason, in 1998 and we were married in 1999. By then I knew what I liked and didn't like in a man. We've been happy ever since. We decided to have a child in 2004 after we moved to Walla Walla. Where we had bought a house and we both had good jobs.
She was born in April 2005. She was three months premature. She was only in her 27th week of gestation. She was born 2lbs 6oz and 14 in long. She was life- flighted to Legacy Emanual in Portland from Walla Walla. I saw her for a few minutes before they took her away. I stayed in the hospital for 3 days to recover from the emergency C-section. Her father and uncle drove to Portland the day of her birth to be with her. I joined them when I was released from the hospital. She had one minor surgery and was on oxygen the whole time she was in the hospital. We were there for 108 days. I stayed at the Ronald McDonald House which was on the hosptial grounds...Expand for more
. It was the greatest place to stay in such a tramatic time. I was able to see my daughter every day and hold her. It was wonderful. She ended up coming home at the end of July. My mother-in-law drove us home from Portland to Walla Walla. Sahalie was still on a nasal canula for oxygen. It was a crazy trip but we made it home. She was off her oxygen within two weeks of being home and she was eating a lot better. She's been growing and growing and now you can't even tell that she was a preemie. She's had a few delays but nothing serious. I thank every day that she is alive and healthy because it so could have gone the other way. So I spend as much time as I can with her.
I work part-time and my husband works full time as a Master Mechanic. We enjoy camping in our Volkswagon bus and hanging out with our friends and family.
I really miss the ocean...It's not a day trip anymore.. We drive down to Bandon a few times a year to visit with family. It's about a 9 hour drive for us. That's a long time with a toddler in the car...
Well I better get going, Sahalie is up from her nap.
Much Love,
Peggy
