Penny's Story

Penny was born in Anderson, Indiana, attended school in Summitville, IN, until my Jr Year, then moved to South Gate, CA. Summitville was rough having Mom as the school Secretary and Dad as the Principal never got away with anything. Married with a Brady bunch of 7 kids, adopted mom to 6 Marines since 1987. The love of my life is Jim have 42 Grand and Great-grandchildren. Her last schools attended include South Gate High School 1959-60, East Los Angeles Junior College (History major, joined the Wonen Marine Corps on 9 Nov 1961, becoming a PLT 16 A boot. Later attended Long Beach City College, both City and PCH Campus, ELAC Journalism Campus News, Alpha Omega Chi Sorority, and Long Beach City College (medical assistant member of Chi Gamma Iota Veterans Fraternal Organization, and studied Business Administration and Medical Assisting. Served the DOD as a Transportation Superintendent for 3 yrs in Subic Bay, Philippines, Naval Supply Center Norfolk for 10 yrs, spent seven years in Germany during Bosnia and Desert Storm (Bamberg, Mannheim, and Hanau) as the BSB Transportation Officer, returning in 2000 to Ft Campbell Ky, 2002 Aberdeen Proving Ground and retiring after 38 yrs service from Military Ocean Terminal Sunny Point NC 2012. If it moved, be it people, goods, or equipment by ground, air, or sea, it fell under my AOR of responsibility. olorado; Perryville,Maryland; North Carolina's Department President 2013-14, Military Order of Cooties Auxiliary MOCA as Grand of North Carolina President 2010-11, going on to become Supreme (National) President MOCA in 2017-18, served as the 5th Supreme District President 2018-20, President of the Cumberland County Veterans Council 2 yrs. Currently, Chaplain for the Grand of Texas and Chief of Staff for Supreme. Since 2020 I have been Mrs. Claus at the VFW National Home for Children n Michigan. Finally, I am a 100% disabled Marine Veteran, Served as Sr Vice Commandant of the Fayetteville Detachment 983 Marine Corps League, MCL 982 Angleton, TX, Disabled American Veterans, and mbr American Legion. My interests include Volunteering at Hospitals, being a County Election Board Judge, love making lap robes for Veteran Patients, helping with Bingo and donating health and happiness items needed to ensure our Veterans are taken care of, Finding time to hold 15 various offices and Chairmanships; reading in spare time enjoy Country Southern Gospel. Still an avid reader and loves war movies. One of my favorite quotes is:"Gitter Done". as Supreme President raised $15K for Valhalla Ranch for PTSD Veterans (as I have PTSD, and $8K for VFW National Home for Children 4-H program.)
