Penny's Story
Left Middletown to join the Army and get some money for college. I had to get away from some bad things in small-town America.
Found I was much suited for the military and decided to make the military a career. Retired from the military in 1999 and began a new journey in nursing. I am following my husband around the world now until he decides to retire. Living in Bellevue, Nebraska and working in a small, community hospital where I am an Operating Room Nurse. I hope to find employment as a Nurse Educator, as I enjoy teaching. I have six wonderful children, 4 girls and 2 boys. The oldest just graduated from University of Hawaii, ...Expand for more
two in college, 2 in high school, and 1 in middle school.
I've traveled a lot, seen a lot, but often reflect on growing up in Middletown. Had wonderful grandparents who worked hard to raise us in the Lord. The world was so different then. My mom had a hard life and died too young. All my brothers still live in/around Middletown but I don't get home much.
We are very near leaving the military for good and not sure where we will settle. My husband is from North Carolina and 4 of 6 children were born at Fort Bragg. I think we'll eventually end up in the south east. Life is and has been good. Hope this has been true for all I know.
