Penny's Story
Life
So I look in the mirror and think to myself - "OH MY GOD, I didn't know 18 year old kids get wrinkles!" - I feel like high school was just yesterday... but nearly 20 years later, I guess I am not a kid anymore. In fact I have kids of my own!
I left the September after graduation in 1986 for college, and traveled from college to college trying to find "home" for my entire 4 years. I was trying to figure out what I wanted to be when I grew up - heck, at one point I had my bag packed and was heading to catch a bus to Nashville to start my country music career. But thankfully I never got on the bus - I fell in love with the plumber on the way out the door (seriously!!!). So where am I now... After all my traveling and trying to 'get out', I guess it is only fitting that I would find my soul mate right under my nose. I married a guy from Morris Knolls class of '87 and moved from Rockaway all the way to Denville.
My husband, Andrew Nappi and I have 3 absolutely gorgeous kids (but I am not bias, right?!) - Gina, is now 12; Andrew, who is 11; and my greatest challenge in life - Erin, who is 6. We have a cute 'puppy' named Munson - yes, named after the famous Yankee Team Capti...Expand for more
an who died in 1979, Thurman Munson. We are, of course, huge Yankee fans in our house. Andy is a plumber (the guy I met while he was working at my Mom and Dad's house-told you I was serious) and I worked for what is AT&T Wireless for 15 years. However, like just about everyone else these days, I got laid off in 2005. After getting laid off and having the opportunity to spend that summer and fall with my kids doing all the great 'mom-stuff' while I looked for another job, I did find a great job. I have been working at Hoffmann-La Roche (a pharmaceutical company) for the last 2 years in the Informatics department. I am a Project and Service Implementation Manager and I really like my job (I mean, as much as anyone likes to work - LOL).
Anyway, we do have a great life and because I am here in Denville still, I get to run into alot of old friends from high school who have also stayed around town or pass through visiting family that is still here. I still get together with my posse from high school a few times a year - even see some of them on a nearly daily basis.
I sum it up like this "I may not have gone where I intended to go, but I am where I was meant to be." God Bless!
