Penny's Story
Graduated from Finney in 1970 - got a job during the summer at Mr Q Travel in Grosse Pointe Woods and was taught the travel industry - while I waited for school to begin in the fall at Wayne County Community College. By the time school started, I loved the travel industry so I worked full time and went to school at night.
Married Matt Vocino in 1974, he graduated from Finney in 1968. We got divorced in 1976 and I haven't seen him since. To keep busy during this rough time, I entered a sewing contest and won 3rd place nationwide.
Was single for many years, went to school and travelled all over the world while being in management in the travel industry. I was also the disco queen, dancing almost every night and winning dance contests. Met husband #2 while dancing one night, got married again, had 2 stepsons, full time. That didn't work out. Finally met the right husband while working at Hamilton Miller Hudson & Fayne travel where I worked for 19 years. My husband George lived in Toronto at the time, was born in England. We long-distanced dated for 1 year then HMHF hired him and he moved in with me at my apartment in Royal Oak.
We built a brand new house in Troy in 1994, got married on Holland America Line's ship the Noordam in 1996 and have been married ever since. We live in Troy, I am on 3 City of Troy boards, I work as a Sales Manager for Ward's Automotive in the Town Center in Southfield and I am always busy doing one thing or another.
When my mother passed away in 2006 I was reunited with some old friends which is why I thought to explore Classmates and see if I can dig up any more old Finney friends.
