Eric's Story
Life
I was born in Los Angeles, CA, at John Wesselly Hospital in July of 1969. Because of my mother's alcohol and drug abuse, and sebsequent abuse of myself and my two brothers and older sister, my brothers and I were shipped to various foster homes in L.A. most of our childhood. Even through all of that adversity, God was always there and faithful, and Ifinally graduated from Manual Arts High School in 1987(after spending my freshman and junior years at Thomas Jefferson HS, where I ran for Class Vice President). At Manual Arts, I fell in love with my friend, Julia Thompson, but unfortunately, it never got past the "friend" stage. After graduation, I mistakenly joined the Navy, and went to bootcamp in San Diego, CA. I signed up for a three-year stretch, but I only lasted six months. from the Navy, I moved to New York to live with my sister and brother-in-law with their three daughters in December of 1987. Regrettably, I haven't made it back home to my beloved Los Angeles yet.
Since then, I've had, maybe 14 or 15 different jobs----some of them permanent, most were through temp. agencies. And, I gave my life to Jesus Christ in March of 1992. I've moved and lived in just about every borough in New York, except for Manhattan. I got married(the first time) in 1993 after my first son, Quame was born. We were married three years, then, we got divorced in 1996. My life went topsy-turvy for about five years. Then, Juanita and I re-married on New Year's Eve in 2003. We now live in Yonkers, NY with our four sons; she has two Bachelor's Degrees, and I am currently pursuing my first Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration at Iona College.
