Perry's Story
After high school I attended North Hennepin Community College. Third year was as a registered nursing student. Discovered nursing wasn't for me and did not continue the final year. Took a job with Physicians and Hospitals Supply. Got married and started to raise a family. First child was a son, Jeramiah. Company was sold to a competitor in 1983 and I got laid off. Six months later I found a job with the Aveda Corporation, then a company of about 20 employees. I started as a part time Lab Aide and part time warehouse worker. Had a wide variety of responsibilities : compounding, formula development, raw material purchasing, filling machine operation, inventory control, technical writing, etc. Along the line I was blessed with two daughters Katie and Megan. Through the years I advanced from Lab Aide to R&D Coordinator, Sr. R&D Coordinator, QC Manager and finally Director, Analytical Qualtiy Assurance. Aveda was purchased by the Estee Lauder Company in 1997.. In terms of years of service, I am #2 in the company. After 13 years of marriage my first wife and I separated and ...Expand for more
divorced. Moved from Coon Rapids to Mound then to Anoka then to Forest Lake. In 1999 I met my current wife Jacque, surprise surprise working at Aveda. In the summer of 2000 my daughters came to live with us, in my wonderful old single-wide trailer (rebuilding is so much fun- not!) Katie soon returned North, but Megan stayed. I remarried in 2001 and we bought a house in Osceola Wisconsin and moved there in 2002. I have become the President of the Osceola Historical Society and am a commissioner on the Osceola Historic Preservation Committee. I have also taken up home canning in a big way, and am a Polk County Master Preserver. Just remember canning was invented by a guy 200 years ago, and any activity that involves heat and pressure and the remote possibility of killing yourself or others (e.g. botulism) is just naturally fun! We now have 2 grandsons and 3 granddaughters and 2 more granddaughters.due in August. My job has given me the opportunity to travel to the South Pacific (Vanuatu), England and the Amazon Rain Forest, as well as various non-exotic locations (e.g. NJ)
