Hello, I'm living in La Jolla these days, retired from the University of California San Diego, where I was the director of the Scripps Institution of Oceanography Library and curator of the Scripps historical archives. My high school interest in marine biology (who taught that summer school class in marine biology?) came back around in my career. In college, I aimed to be a laboratory microbiologist, and graduated from Cal State Long Beach after starting out at UCI. Then I pursued a masters degree in library and information science at USC for a professional librarian career direction. I progressed, though I never thought I would end up as a library director given my start shelving books in the downtown Huntington Beach Public Library starting midway through senior year.
