Peter's Story

This should be fun. As a wannabe journalist, who left my best work at the Blue & Gold, I could pontificate for hours. But I will spare you. My most vivid memories are of senior year, without question (the rest of the years are a blur, thankfully). Fondly: Student Spotlight, Car of the Month, Coed PE (in which I got to 1-up Van Roe, the ninny). I remember the time Coach Lackey tried to lock me out of Trig class cuz I was a second after the bell, and I high-tailed it around the front of the school and jumped in the open window right next to my desk. He went looking for me; when he returned, I smiled and waved at him from my seat. Hehehe.... but that was as a jr., not sr. Senior year we published Eel Pie - Boyles, Salyers and I. Good times. I think we made fun of every teacher any of us had run across. Lots of gratuitous cursing (my bad) just because (I thought) we could. Salyers reviewed the famous chick flick, Return of Billy Jack; Boyles commented on the basketball team and their prospects, while I editorialized about the drill team, jumping off Holcomb Bridge into the Chat., parodied "A Christmas Carol" with Kenneth "Hands" Ries in the lead role (Hulan Webb as Ghost of Christmas future, ha!) Fun, fun, fun til the principal took my typewriter away! Meanwhile, back in real life... after graduating from GSU I worked at the following (I may leave some out, the memory is the first t...Expand for more
o go in my case) Bayer Aspirin, Coke USA, Better Homes & Gardens, Naturally Fresh, Saft Batteries, Hunter Fan, GP Batteries, The Beaches Leader community newspaper and now I am with Community Publishing Inc. Obviously I can get a good job - I just can't keep it... Personally, divorced in 2000 with three kids (that I admit to). Kellen, my oldest, is a local attorney specializing in elderly law (told him I can't wait to get oldold, so I can schedule a conference with him - I don't see much of him, obviously); Thomas who is 23, goes to college, works at a high-end eatery on the beach, cleans up big time at the poker room and lives about 2 miles north of me. Sara, who is 16, is in a magnet school for the dramatic arts. She goes to a magnet school cuz she's very attractive. Ha. I live about 8 blocks from the Atlantic Ocean in JAX Beach. Nice little place with everything a poor boy could possibly need. I often bicycle the 7 miles south to my office in Ponte Vedra, along the coast on the left and a golf course or two on the right. Could be worse. That is all the news that is printable and fits. I am newly on facebook, Peter Bryant of Jacksonville. My everyday e-mail is on yahoo with peterb followed by the number 8996. Not sure that'll make it thru' the censors, but I thought I'd try. ...If you're ever in Jacksonville, or just driving south on I-95 or north on A1A, COME SEE US, HEAR!

Face off at the beach... Karen vs. Bo. And the sea breeze whipped.
Here, Bo and I inspecting the top step of the stairs from 2nd Av N. to the beach. Yesterday I wrote Jax Beach Mayor Charlie Latham about the step's state of disrepair. Today the stairs are good-as-new. As a local support
The whole clan smiling on cue - very rare.
Hot time, supper in the city! Back a my tongue feeling dry and gritty.
The beautiful, the lovely Ms Sunshine, slumming with some schlub.
The all-American girl - the lovely Sara. Apple of my eye.
When you're this handsome & dignified, tricks are for kids. Beached Bo.
Even Bo turned his nose up on this morning's trash. I was expecting much worse this morning based on last night's water-line litter trail. We managed to collect 'n toss 3 bags, tho.
It's a hot one. NOT
To Karen I say, if the pants fit, wear 'em! What a morning for a walk on the beach! October is a great month, and it's not even here yet.
Pick-up line: "Hey there, you look like a girl who's entitled to some good times. Care to roll some republicants?"
It's just that kind of morning. Drizzle with a chance of rain. Continued gray. 50 shades, to be exact. Bo knows naps.
Congrats to the beautiful, always-sunny and all-around wonderful Charlotte Coffman for her 30 years of service at the Beaches Leader - and more importantly, to her well-deserved retirement today. I love this woman!
Anyone in the market for a huge swimsuit? Beachside's got you covered.
The government 'front-lines' are inept: ex-welfare workers and GS-0's who consider it a victory to re-direct you to someone else. The top-tier of government is corrupt: money and power and money and more money. We the peo
