Peter's Story

Life Where have the years gone? I have finally reached a point in my life where I have some level of contentment. My path has not been the one some would have expected me to follow, including myself I guess, but it has been an interesting journey all the same, and it isn't over yet. Leaving Chilliwack was something I just had to do. It was a time in my life from which I gained a very personal understanding of the expression "crash & burn", and I needed to leave, to put that past behind me, to be able to start again. But I was born there, and have always found my way back, and coming to Edmonton has been a very good thing, even if a little on the chilly side. I fell in love with a beautiful Ukrainian woman who has put up with me and stayed by my side these past 20 years; as well as giving me 2 beautiful daughters along the way. But that 20 years has been a blur, gone in a blink.(and I quit drinking about 15yrs ago!)Time flies once the kids come along, seems like it was just yesterday that I took Tegan(my baby) to her first day of Grade 1 and now she's 16 and her sister is 18, and unfortunately I still remember what I was like at 16 and 18,. I would say "God help me", but as a firm believer in God, I am positive that giving me 2 daughters is his/her idea of a good laugh; and I wouldn't change a minute of it. Life is good! I still have all my original parts, and most of them are still working; I own more of my house than the bank does; I couldn't retire tomorrow(unless my 649 comes thru tonight),but what would I do if I didn't go to work? It has been and will continue to be a learning experience, and I learn a little bit mo...Expand for more
re about me, and life, everyday. I take it one day at a time, and remind myself that each day is a gift, to be appreciated and to enjoy, and I'm beginning to understand that it isn't so much about the destination, as about the journey. I am still a friend of Bill W., but I don't attend as regularly as I might, as my own uncle Bill likes to remind me, but we have a basic philosophical difference of opinion in regard to the use of certain herbal substances, and to avoid the argument, I choose not to attend. It would only cause me guilt for not being completely honest with a group of people who have given me, and so many others so much, just by being there when we needed someone to just be there; to know we are not alone For anyone who might be so inclined, I've got a little blog where I vent from time to time; drtripsrambles at blogspot, and share my political viewpoints, among other things; and yes I know, somethings never change. But I promise you this, no matter what your opinion, whether it agrees with mine or not, I will defend forever your right to express it; I will also be the first to give you mine, whether you want it or not. For some reason, I just thought of our "Pres", Ogmunder Joseph Ogmundson, now that is someone I would love to talk to again. Hey Joe, how are you? Take care folks, thanks for dropping by. So just a little addition to the story, and to the family! I am now a very proud grandpa to Liam Riley Peter Elson, born Oct. 29,'09, 5 weeks premature but doing fine ago growing like he's in a hurry; not sure where the Riley comes from, but he is a beautiful first child for my daughter.Pics will follow shortly.
