Who would have thought that many of us who graduated in 67 are now at or nearing retirement age? I thought that happened to other people! I retired from my major career as a tree service after 30 years in the trade. I got through it with no injuries or hurt workmen. I started the profession in Dallas with the ice storm of 1979 New Years Day. Remember that one? I have been self employed all my life. I pioneered the new outdoor activity of recreational tree climbing (Tree Climbers International). I took the tools and techniques used in the arborist profession and turned it into a sport. It is now worldwide. It¿s all about climbing any tree with a rope and harness for fun (including the redwoods). We start with 5 year olds. It¿s an empowering experience. We teach regular people how to climb trees on their own or host tree climbing events like kids birthday parties, scout groups, etc. We also teach people how to start up their own tree climbing programs world wide.
