Peter's Story
Life
R.L.Thomas Class of '79 - Graduated Aug '78 and moved to Orlando, FL.
Spent a few years working and studying to be an Electrical Engineer.
Joined the Army at the end of '82. Served 3 yrs on Active duty and 12 years on Active reserve. I've been to Korea, Germany, Belgium, Egypt, and Hungary with the Army, and England and Ireland on my own. Currently I'm an ex- Electronics Tech of Chip Supply Inc and a former Staff Sergeant (E-6) of the Army Reserve.
School
I attended 4 different schools during my elementary years in Rochester and Webster. I made good friends at all of those schools and stayed in touch fairly well until my family moved to Florida with a lot of others from Stromberg-Carlson. I was on the soccer and track teams at Spry JH. At R. L. Thomas I ran track both years I was there. Being the District 5 champions in '78 felt really great. Mr. Kruse was a great coach and a fun teacher. My junior year I crammed all the extra classes I could to graduate as a Ridgeman before I moved to Florida. Big hello to W.W. I remember you fondly. Military
I joined the Army at the end of 1982 to get into a decent paying job that would help me attain some of my future goals. I went to Fort Dix for BCT 12/82-3/83. AIT at Ft. Gordon, GA (C-5-1) 3/83-6/83. 2nd Inf. Div. 122nd Signal Camp Casey ROK 6/83-6/84. 1st Inf. Div. 121st Signal Ft. Riley, KS. 7/84-11/85. During my stay on Custer Hill I got my first view of the mean nasty dark side of military life. I almost got burned by this dark side, but I managed to avoid that and moved on with my life and into the Reserves in Orlando. I really enjoyed my time in the Reserves. First with the 146th Trans. Det. (ATMCT) 12/85-2/90. 76th Trans. Det. (CS) 2/90-3/92. 81st ARCOM Retention for East Central Florida 3/92-4/94. 146th Trans. Det. 4/94-8/97. IRR 8/97-11/00. The end of my career in the military was highlighted by broken wrists in 94 and the return of mean nasty dark side feelings during Bright Star 10/95 and Operation Joint Endeavor 12/95-9/96. I just didn't have and couldn't find the right attitude to stay active after Operation Joint Endeavor.
