Peter's Story
Military
Was drafted into the US Army on June 7, 1967. Was inducted at Ft. Hamilton in Brooklyn and went to Fort Gordon, GA for my basic training. Spent some time at Ft. Dix, NJ before being sent to Viet Nam in May 1968. Spent 1 year May '68 to May '69 in a area called Dong Ba Thin, as part of the 10th Combat Aviation Battalion, which was part of the 1st Aviation Brigade in Nha Trang. Officer the Personnel office for the Battalion. Handled casualty reporting for approximately 6 months. This was a very unpleasant responsibility. Came home in one piece physically and mentally, thank the good Lord! That ended my active duty military responsibility. I guess I'm making it sound much better than it actually was, but after 40 years why complain.
Worked 30 years for NY Telephone, AT&T and retired from Lucent Technologies in December 1999.
