Peter's Story

Now Back on Long Island - Wahoo! While in high school I worked at BOCES part time, working in computer programming. After high school I worked at Fordham University in the Bronx working with the VAX/VMS computer system. In 87 I left Fordham because i decided i didn't like sitting in front of a computer all day. I then got into the carpeting business and had my own carpet installation business in Medford, NY. in 1999 I sold the business after a back injury. I worked for 3 years at G. Fried Carpet doing flooring sales before going to work at Expo Design Center in Commack. In the fall of 2002 I helped friends move to Denver, CO. I loved the area so much that within 10 weeks I too moved to Denver. I was able to transfer with Expo Design Center. In 2004 I attended the Denver School Of Massage Therapy. Massage had helped me with my back injury, and my friends always told me i was a natural at massage and should get into it professionally. I worked for a few months as a massage therapist in Wyoming before moving to western Massachusetts to work at my current job at Canyon Ranch. I currently work a 20 hour work week, Thursday - Saturday, then I¿m off Sunday - Wednesday each week, and every 3-4 week I travel to back to Long Island to visit family and friends a number of who have become clients of my massage practice. Back in high school I took a photography course, and my love of photography has always stayed with me. I use to just take the camera along on my camping and hiking trip and on vacation. But in the past few years my vacations and trips have been planned for my photography. Back in 97 ...Expand for more
I started a web site SWAMPonline to share my photography. I have taught myself, HTML, java script, PHP and various other things to help me build my website. During the spring summer and fall I spend my free time kayaking and hiking and camping always with my camera. During the winter I work on editing my photo¿s and updating my web site. For anyone wondering why the website name SWAMPonline, S.W.A.M.P is an acronym for Scenic Waters And Mountain Peaks. SWAMP is an outdoor adventure group based in the NY Metro area with members around the United States, my friends started back in 1983 and in 1997 I decided to start the web site so my friend within the group could view my photos figuring others would contribute photos. From trip they did. Since moving to the Berkshires I have done a few small art shows and sold some on my work, this inspired me to redesign my website so anyone can view my photos and order prints online. Most of my photography is of nature and wildlife. I also have a Myspace page under rollinghandsmassage, and I'm on Facebook as well.
