Peter's Story
Life
I teach part-time (Fall semester) in the Honors Program at the University of Wyoming, where I have been for 39 years. I teach a literature/philosophy/poetry seminar, "The Consciousness of Nature", and a lecture class, "Chaos, Fractals and Complexity". I have settled into undergraduate teaching after a career here as a research geophysicist (continental drift, sea-floor spreading, geomagnetic reversals, lunar and planetary magnetism).
I am also a professional disc golf player, so during much of the rest of the year I play in tournaments all over the country. I've won the professional world championship in ...Expand for more
my division nine times (the last eight years in a row), and have a major corporate sponsor (Innova Champion Discs). I feel like I am now living a dream that I had when I was in my 20's and 30's.
My wife Gail is an artist whose most recent project is "The Screaming Women Purses". You might have seen some of these, as they are sometimes in traveling exhibits with organizations like Safe and Amnesty International. They commemorate a former bad marriage of which she says, "I should have been screaming all those years". She also likes to say, "It takes a mighty fine man to be better than no man". I feel honored.
