Phil's Story

I always wanted to be an Opera singer when I grew up. My family thought that was a poor (as in income) idea. As it turns out, they were not right about the income issue. Regardless, it's what makes one happy that's important. Later in life I determined that if one strives to be the best in what he does adequate income to provide a living will come also. My hero was my dad. I guess most boys idolize their fathers. Mario Lanza was a hero because I wanted to sing like him. Most of the places I have lived were duty stations assigned while in the Navy: San Diego, Oceanside, CA, Okinawa, Japan. Favorite sport: football. Don't care much for reality TV. My best friend is my dog Mickey. He's 17 years old and besides being deaf, blind and no longer able to hold it before going outside, he's a great dog. If I could improve my home, I'd remodel my master bath and add on a patio enclosure. My dream home would be plantation style. The teacher I would like to see again is Russian History teacher Patricia Land....Expand for more
I had a crush on her. If I won $100 million, I wouldn't have much left after the government took its cut. I'd give a portion of it to select church and charities, then spend the rest on my children, friends and travel. As I have always been, I'm a Levi jeans man; more so now that I no longer work for a living. I share my home with no one, which I find empty. If I had a do-over in life I would pursue that singing career which would have changed everything else. My oldest friend is Pat. We met at age 11. As a new student at my school he once declared that he was the fastest runner from his previous school. So I set up an impromptu race. I won...He came in fifth. We've been friends ever since. My first job was at Hyde's Drug store, where I got paid 1.65/hr. to stock shelves. What I remember most about it is this is where I met my first love. OK, I've lied here. My first job was as a busboy for 75 cents an hour at the Captains Table restaurant in Bethany. I prefer not to remember that experience.
