Phil's Story

Since high school my life has been one of climbing a glacier with bowling shoes on. Just kidding. After graduating it was as if everyone got on a bus and left Calgary. The class of 74 was gone. I have lived in Calgary the whole time and moved to Chestermere, AB in May, 2008. In 1975 I applied to the RCMP when I was working as a store detective at Woolco. I was told at the first tryout that I had the wrong personality and wasn't suitable for the RCMP. I talked to someone high up in the RCMP and he told me to go back and apply again and that I would be accepted. I didn't go back to apply again because my lifestyle had changed and they ask too many questions. My father told this person about my new lifestyle. This same person told me he was going to have a RCMP car follow me around Calgary for three months and I laughed. Who sees RCs in Calgary. He wasn't kidding. For three months I became an electrician with the clear mind that this was only temporarily and I worked at SAIT with the maintenance department until I become a journeyman electrician. First job I was at building the Calgary Herald building. In 1980 I went to the Calgary Board of Ed as an electrician. I applied to the fire department in about 1984 and was going thru the tests when I quit because I didn't like the starting wage. I continued on for about 10 years when I decided to become a commercial airline pilot. I became a private pilot and ended up meeting my second wife who changed my mind about living in the wilderness being a bush pilot. Second wife? The first was too short to mention and she ran...Expand for more
away with a good friend who all my friends think should be my best friend for what he saved me from. I quit the school board in Sept. 1999 and went to work at a union job by Red Deer. Camp, meals, going home on weekends. Then I went to Portland, Oregon Sept. 2000 and work at Intel sites until Bush was elected and all the work shut down. From Oregon I went to Fort McMurray to find out what working in hell was like. I worked in hell or Fort Crack for 8 eight years asking myself "What the hell am I doing here? What is my purpose?" Well I found out when I went home to that I was getting divorced after 13 years of being married to the crazy woman off "Little House on the Prairie". Fort McMurray was my hiding place for the next year going home to see my three kids. Kristy 10, Colby 8 and Kory 5 on weekends. I met Lori in 2005 on the internet (Lavalife) and we instantly knew we had been looking for each other all our lives. She is the reason I quit Fort Mac and came home to spend more time with her and my kids. I started out as a electrician and am still a electrician looking for my new future. I have been an electrician for 35 years. I am working about 18 months at a time with 6 months off to search for a new job. Not my choose. I went into Shamanism and am a practitioner and I am also a Reiki master. I have put nails on the bottom of my bowling shoes and am now making forward progress. If this was a paper for English 30 class Mr. Shelton would have red pen all over it. Thanks for reading about my live and I have lots more stories if you are interested.

The City of Calgary won't change the name of one of the water treatment plants to the "Stephen Harper Sewage Facility" because it would be full of shit all the time. Stephen Harper would want to call it a swimming pool.

Value Village would have made a killing at McMahon Stadium today. I would have bought a toque, a jacket and a scarf so I could watch the game in comfort. You weather reporters should quit your jobs and sell playing cards do
