Philip's Story

Typical story of surviving life. Graduated the 1st half of my senior year. Attended Murray State Univ., Murray, Ky the spring of '73, David Lipscomb College the fall of '73 and Murray State the spring of '74. Bummed around Kentucky Lake all summer doing nothing. Maybe a little drinking. Fall of '74, worked in Clarksville, Tn as a carpenter for a year & a-half. January '76 joined the Air Force and was discharged in'77,only son; father had cancer. Bummed around the summer, started Murray State in the fall. December '77 got a job in construction and married in Jan '78. So begins reality. Had my 1st girl in '83 and 1st divorce in '85, my bad; too much brew-ha-ha. Still working as a carpenter, moved to Dallas for a year and then to Pasadena, Ca in '87. Aug '87 moved to Brentwood & worked at Lawrence Livermore Lab. Married in late '87, had 2nd daughter in '90 and moved to Houston,Tx in '91 where my 2nd divorce occurred, this one's not my fault; I couldn't make ...Expand for more
money fast enough. In Houston, worked construction at the Phillips Plant, exploded in '89 killing 23, for 12 years. In '03 went to work for Turner and I'm still here today. I work Project Controls and am preparing to work a project in Wyoming at ExxonMobil until Nov. Denise, a Continental Flight Attendant, is my significant other for 10 years, no more "I Do's". My oldest daughter married into Army, he goes to Afganistan in March, I've 2 precious grandkids, youngest daughter 19, is in college and two big babies at home (yellow labs; Bowie-7 yrs old at 110 lbs & Destiny-3 yrs old at 92 lbs. So, that's my life in a nutshell and you know as well as myself, it's been NUTS. I guess one way to stay young is to go back and remember "What once was". It's nice to see familiar names and faces, some I don't remember and others I can't forget. It comes with distance & age but it's all good.
